about me

The more you see, the less you know
The less you find out as you go
I knew much more then than I do now

F.SARACENO I am an Italian born economist working in France.  My research and teaching focus  on Macroeconomics and Economic Policy, especially at the European level.

Over the past few years I have grown increasingly pessimist about the state of the European economy, haunted by a lethal mix of ideology in economic analysis, and political inaction.

All seems at stake here: The ways we think about our economy, and the institutions we built over time to govern our complex union. Nothing seems to work, and we desperately lack leaders with a vision.

This blog is born out of this despair. I will be looking for fresh ideas (mine or someone else’s) and share them, hopefully with some regularity. Sometimes they will be fully fledged, sometimes sketchy and suggestive. In both cases, the aim is to expose them and to make them grow (or die, if they deserve so).

This is of course a personal blog, and the opinions expressed here engage nobody else but me.
